KEVIN ANDERSON WINS PRIMARY ELECTION IN HENNEPIN COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 7 RACE

Maple Grove, Minn., August 14, 2020 - The final votes have all been counted and District Seven in Hennepin County has a clear cut winner from this week’s primary election for Commissioner. Kevin Anderson has emerged as the victor of the three-way primary race for County Commissioner.

Minnesota held primary elections state-wide on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Voters were able to cast ballots in-person at polling locations on Tuesday or by mail-in ballots, as long as the ballot was postmarked or delivered to the Hennepin County Election office by Tuesday, August 11. After all votes had been tabulated, the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office issued the final results.

Anderson took the win with more than 43% of the vote, claiming 11,178 votes.

“The results of the primary election have been truly humbling,” said Anderson. “I’m incredibly proud of my campaign team and honored that the voters of District Seven have provided me with the opportunity to seek this position in the general election.”

Anderson’s campaign began in early 2019, focusing on three cornerstone initiatives for Hennepin County: environmental conservation, improving health care services, and investing in transportation infrastructure. “I think the primary results point to the idea that residents of district seven are ready for some positive change in Hennepin County. I’m looking forward to getting to know more voters in the coming months and sharing my values with them,” added Anderson.

Anderson will now face off in a two-way non-partisan race in the general election on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 with early voting starting on September 18th.
