Commissioner Kevin Anderson Files for Re-election to the Hennepin County Board
HENNEPIN COUNTY: Kevin Anderson is excited to announce he has filed for re-election as Hennepin County Commissioner representing District 7. With a focus on smart investments in infrastructure, public safety, and ending homelessness among veterans, Commissioner Anderson’s leadership has significantly improved the lives of residents across district 7 and Hennepin County.
During his tenure, Commissioner Anderson has championed increased infrastructure investments, resulting in the completion of the Hwy 610 project in Maple Grove, the advancement of Fletcher Bypass in Rogers, many pedestrian safety improvements, and the connection of nearly 3,000 homes to broadband. “Investing in our infrastructure is essential for the growth and prosperity of our community. These improvements have not only made our daily commutes easier but also strengthened the economic vitality of our district,” said Anderson.
A strong advocate for veterans, Anderson has played a pivotal role in efforts to end homelessness among veterans in Hennepin County. “Ensuring that those who have served our country have a safe and secure place to call home is a top priority. Our collective efforts have brought us closer to declaring functional zero for veteran homelessness, and I am committed to continuing this vital work,” he added. An important part of this strategy has been the investment in multi-unit housing that allows for increased affordability for not just the veteran community, but everyone in Hennepin County.
Public safety has also been a cornerstone of Commissioner Anderson’s agenda. By working closely with law enforcement and community organizations, he has implemented effective public safety measures to create safer neighborhoods. “Collaboration and investment in public safety are crucial for the well-being of our residents. I am proud of the $8 million I helped secure for the North Metro Regional Public Safety Training Facility,” Anderson emphasized.
Commissioner Anderson’s re-election campaign has garnered strong endorsements from influential State, County, and City leaders, community organizations, labor unions. These endorsements underscore the broad support for Anderson’s vision and accomplishments.
“I am deeply honored to have the backing of such amazing leaders and organizations. Their support is a testament to our shared commitment to making Hennepin County a better place for all,” said Anderson.
As Anderson seeks re-election, his future work will expand to include:
- Workforce Development: With the changing workforce demographics, Hennepin County will play a key role in ensuring that our businesses and workers have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
- Affordable Housing: Building on the progress made in the last 4 years, and leveraging his role in the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Commissioner Anderson will work with developers and local community leaders to address the rising costs of housing.
- Senior Support: As our population ages, there will be a greater need to streamline and simplify our complicated web of support for our seniors in need.
